Been a while since my last sugar skull and it felt nice to make one again. Did three designs before it finally felt right and we could let the needle in.
This is a lovely cloud with the thunderbolt sticking out of it. Did this actually already in the last August, but today was finally the touch-up day and grabbed a photo of it as well.
And here’s a cover-up. Customer had a tattoo with the words from Def Leppard lyrics. He didn’t really enjoy the old tat anymore, but wanted the new one still to have something to do with the Lep. So, after few drawing attempts I finally got the idea to give it a bit of the feel from the “Hysteria” artwork and designed the lettering etc. There’s some scars from the old tat, under the new one, unfortunately I’m unable to smoothen the skin, can only turn the old tats to new ones.
This guy is a guitar player in several bands and also an guitar technician, just opened his shop as well: urvamusic.com
Has and G-clef & F-clef. I wanted this piece to be something different, not “just-another-lettering”, so I added some watercolour feel to it:
A piece with the pink sky. Going to add some more contrast to it after a while, will post a new photo when finished.
Been working on new designs, drawings and everything else.
Few finished drawings here tho:
Original drawing for Talbot's Russian tour "Tour de Balalaika 2011" poster.
Stay tuned for the dates on Talbot's page:
A3. Ink, technical pen.
20 hours work in this one.
And a logo for my solo operation. Hopefully I can release some new stuff soon.
Taken from some Polish book cover. Bird was actually just plain black, but customer wanted it to look more sketchy, so I sketched.
Back of the arm, a bit above the elbow.
Buddhist hands with some birth dates. I will take a better photo when it’s healed. Back.
And this one. Core idea is taken from one of the children books and modified a bit (sunglasses, ‘stache, high hat). Somehow the skin took ink quite poorly, so I need to do a lot of touch-up’s with this one. Afterwards will try to get better pic of it as well.
Talbot’s Russian tour “Tour de Balalaika 2011” and Japan/Australasia tour “Tour de Ninja 2011” posters also in work. Plus some new shirt designs. Will print those within July. And – I’ve had a plan to make my own moustache wax for about few months now. Few hours ago ordered the tin jars and beeswax, going to “cook” it soon.
Let’s ‘stache, I say!
So, finally I had the chance to do some woodcut style tattoo. Woodcut look, among all the other nice stuff, been one of my interests lately.
Customer had the “collarbone” writing before, but it was quite blurry already, so he wanted to cover it. And to make the writing onto the other collarbone. And from there we went – drew it up and needle in. Very happy with the result.
Continued on this halfsleeve as well. Since one half of it is more linework, then decided to give the other part a bit different look. Asymmetric stuff. I’m really into it. Asymmetry that is.
And, cause I’m also a bit of a gearhead, really into hot rods and customs (tho not having any at the moment), and also cause “woodcut” and “woodruff” sounds almost the same, then here’s a cool lil’ video of probably one of the world’s lowest VW Beetle:
